Salvador Montes

Seafood Operations Specialist

With an accounting degree from the Universidad del Valle de México, Salvador spent 13 years as an External Auditor for Ernst & Young, gaining experience in sectors such as the textile, automotive, insurance industries, as well as auditing multinational corporations and financial services institutions. He then held a number of positions with Grupo Xabre, one of Mexico’s largest privately held industrial groups, with interests in hotels, a national airline, sugar mills, fish producing and processing companies, manufacturing for the military, insurance services, and foreign exchange financial entities. As Executive Director for the group’s four seafood (including tuna) processing companies for many years, Salvador developed deep, on-the-ground experience in fish production, processing, and marketing of seafood products, including brand management. While Director of the seafood processing plant Productos Pesqeros de Matancitas and its associated fishing fleet, and with the assistance of Gomez-Hall Associates, he oversaw the successful Marine Stewardship Council certification of the Mexican pole and line tuna fishery. Salvador brings his 40+ years of professional experience to Gomez-Hall Associates’ projects involving operational improvements and financial analysis of seafood processing companies, fishing vessels, and seafood product supply chains.
